This will be walkthrough on how to perform a manual scan using the McAfee Endpoint Security application that is installed on all UH Law computer equipment. These instructions include the steps for scanning on Windows and Mac.
Windows:
- In the bottom right of your screen near the clock, click on the up arrow to view the hidden icons. Click on the McAfee icon to view the options.
- Click on the option to open "McAfee Endpoint Security.
- From the McAfee application, select "Scan System" near the top of the application.
- Decide whether you want to perform a "Full Scan" or a "Quick Scan" and select "Scan Now" from on which ever option you would prefer. (Please note that a quick scan can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes while a full scan could take up to 2 hours)
- Once the scan is complete you will see the results of your scan, if you have any detections please notify LIT.
Mac:
- In the top right corner near the clock, click on the McAfee icon and select "Console".
- From the McAfee EndPoint Security application window, select "Scan Now" from the options on the left.
- From the "Scan Now" windows select which location you would like to scan. This could be a specific folder or your entire hard drive. LIT recommends scanning the entire hard drive. (Please be aware scanning the entire hard drive could take up to 2 hours) Select "Start Scan" when you are ready to begin the scan.
- Once the scan is complete you will see the results of your scan, if you have any detections please notify LIT.
