Test your video before a meeting
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click your profile picture, then click Settings .
- Click the Video tab .
You will see a preview video from the camera that is currently selected; you can choose a different camera if another one is available.
HD is checked.
Adjust for low light is set to auto and checked.
Unchecked = Mirror my video
Test your video while in a meeting
- Start or join a meeting.
- Next to Start Video/Stop Video on the meeting controls, click the up arrow .
- Select Video Settings.
Zoom will display your camera's video and settings. - If you don't see your camera's video, under Camera, click the dropdown menu and select another camera.

Test audio settings before a meeting
- Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
- In the top-right corner, click your profile picture, then click Settings.
- Click the Audio tab.
- In the Speaker section, click Test Speaker to play a test tone.
- If you cannot hear it, select a different speaker from the drop-down menu or adjust the Volume.
- In the Microphone section, click Test Mic to test your microphone.
Your audio will start recording and you will see the Input Level bar move when Zoom is picking up audio. The audio will play back
Test audio when joining a meeting
If you haven't enabled the setting to automatically join by computer audio, you can test your speaker and microphone right before you enter a Zoom meeting:
- When joining a meeting, click Test Speaker and Microphone.
The meeting will display a pop-up window to test your speakers. - If you don't hear the ringtone, use the drop-down menu or click No, Try Another Speaker to switch speakers until you hear the ringtone. Click Yes to continue to the microphone test.
- If you don't hear an audio replay, use the drop-down menu or click No, Try Another Microphone to switch microphones until you hear the reply. Click Yes when you hear the replay.
- Click Join with Computer Audio to exit the speaker and microphone test.
